Jericho Rosales: 'I had my share of hard times talaga but no regrets.'

Marami na ang nakapansin sa unti-unting pagbabago sa ganda ng katawan ni Jericho Rosales. 'I'm in good shape right now because I feel good inside and marami akong ginagawang activities iba't ibang sports, feeling healthy.' Ipinagmamalaki rin ni Echo ang ganda ng kanyang abs sa ngayon.

Sa usapin sa career, alam ng lahat na minsan ay nawala sa sirkulasyon ng showbiz si Jericho sapagkat nag-detour ang kanyang acting career patungo sa pagkanta. Isang malaking desisyon na ayon sa kanya ay hindi niya pinagsisihan dahil natutukan niya daw ang kanyang passion sa pagkanta. Naging masalimuot din ang kanyang lovelife noon nang naging you and me against the worl ang drama nila ni Heart Evangelista. Pero nauwi din sa hiwalayan ang akala ng karamihan ay magkakaroon ng fairy tale and happy ending ang kanilang ipinaglalabang pag-iibigan.

Naging masalimuot man ang pinagdaanan ng Mr. Pogi titleholder, naging successful naman ang kanyang pagbalik sa pag-arte. At ang pelikulang Baler na pinagbibidahan niya katuwang si Anne Curtis ang isa sa masasabi nating naging daan sa matagumpay na 'second coming' ng kanyang career. 'Parang medyo sugal kasi it's an epic film, yes pero Baler is not really known and even our producers sinasabi nila we just have to make a good movie. This kind of movies sabi nila are not the usual ones na talagang bumebenta sa takilya but we still made it kasi it's a good movie but nung ipinalabas na siya sa festival, hit na hit talaga siya dahil siya yung pinaka- maraming awards na nakuha for the film fest, ako lang yung hindi nakakuha pero ok lang at best picture pa. I'm really proud of that film and for me binibigay ko naman talaga yung best ko para sa isang project lalung lalo na pag gusto ko yung project so I believed that movie really help me as well pagdating sa pelikula to be back again sa movies and TV, sa Kahit Isang Saglit [with Malaysian actress Carmen Soo] and some endorsements now are coming in. Perfect timing. God is good. For a while I stop, I decided to stop to train my music and the right song and at the same time rest from the usual things that I did nag-music muna ako. Nagsulat ako, kumanta rin, nag record ako, kumanta rin sa mga bars, nag shows, nag concert and very minimal na TV and movie work. I did one film na hindi pa pinapalabas nung time na yun. Nagpahinga ako may ginawa akong isang movie. It's with an American crew and American actors din. I auditioned for that role up to now hindi pa siya naipapalabas kasi they're still working on it but hopefully this year malapit na.'

Hindi man niya nasungkit ang Best Actor trophy sa nakaraang Metro Manila Film Festival, happy na rin si Echo sa mga naging papuri sa pelikulang Baler. At ngayon, may international screening na daw ito. 'May narinig nga ako na mga balita na ganun, sa May 14 opening film siya ng San Joaquin International Film Festival sa San Francisco, gustong gusto ko ngang pumunta kaso hindi puwede. I'm really proud of that film plus I'm getting nominations again for the movie so very happy.' Sa tingin ba niya naapektuhan ng kanyang lovelife noon ang magandang takbo ng kanyang career? 'Not really, nagkataon lang sabay lang yun. Sumabay lang sa panahon. I've always been in a relationship naman. I've been always in love and ganun pa rin may ups and downs.'Pinagsisihan ba niya ang isang taon halos na hindi siya naging aktibo sa showbiz? 'Hindi, in-expect ko naman talaga yung time na mangyayari yun kasi ako mismo nag-decide na stop. There are things na hindi ko ini-expect na mangyayari and mas maraming bagay na di ko rin ini-expect na yung magiging epekto nun ganun kalaki. Siyempre, I had my share of hard times talaga but no regrets. I've learned a lot of things kasi dahil dun sa vacation ko na yun, I've established my character.'

Jericho Rosales says his album is inspired by a different kind of love

Jericho Rosales is preparing to make beautiful music under Star Records, the recording arm of his home network ABS-CBN. Last April 15, he signed a solo album deal with Star Records in the presence of Managing Director Annabelle Regalado-Borja and his manager Angeli Pangilinan-Valenciano. At the contract signing, Jericho said that he is now ready to give what the public wants to hear from him in his upcoming album.

“As a musician ganun pa rin ako. Straight-from-the-heart kind of music. Kaya lang noon with my band medyo funk kasi ang dating ng music namin,indie nang konti. This time I’ve learned to give in sa kung ano ang gusto ng tao. As an artist, I now understand ‘yung importance ng give and take. Sa una ibibigay mo muna ‘yung gusto ng tao on what they want to hear and then later on tsaka ko gagawin ‘yung kung ano ang gusto ko. To be able to make more music I need to be heard. Compromise is not the word. It’s not the word that we use in our team. It’s more of understanding what people need at this time. Different times, different needs. Kung ano lang ‘yung understandable at embraceable sa mga tao ngayon. You can’t force things to happen din,” he explains.

His new solo album, which is set for release sometime this July, will contain mellow love songs—mostly his own composition. He reveals that his talent in song writing sprung from composing poems when he was young. But it seems that Jericho is the type who becomes more inspired and driven to work when he’s in a relationship. When asked if he has someone who serves as his musical inspiration now, Jericho said that he draws his drive from so many things around him and not from one particular girl alone. “Honestly right now wala akong girlfriend. This is the time na mapo-prove ko talaga sa sarili ko na hindi totoong dahil lang may girlfriend ako kaya may mga nagagawa ako. Noon nagkataon lang talaga, to be fair to my exes. Now I still make music kahit wala akong love life. Live and love naman talaga ako. ‘Yung love ko hindi lang naman para sa girlfriend. There’s love for my family, my brother, my pet, my life, and God. May mga compositions ako about joy, happiness, heart breaks, standing up again on my own two feet, doing things on my own, how I appreciate God in my life. Kapag extreme emotions ‘yung nararamdaman ko, extreme happiness or extreme sadness, sumusulat ako.”

Rumored to be courting singer-actress Karylle, Jericho clarifies that he is just friends with the daughter of ZsaZsa Padilla. He may, however, be singing a song with Karylle for his album. “We’re thinking of collaborating with other artists. Of course Karylle is on the list. Before pa nasabi ko na sa kanya na baka we can work on kahit isang song. Game naman siya. Nagdu-duet naman din kami sa ASAP. Merong song na sinulat namin nung lead guitarist ng banda ko dati and kinanta namin ni Karylle sa I Love Betty La Fea.”

The 29-year-old actor is set to reunite with his ex-girlfriend and love team partner Kristine Hermosa in a teleserye and a movie. He has just also bagged a Best Actor nomination from the Golden Screen Awards for his performance in the movie Baler. With an album in the works, Jericho has successfully made his mark on TV, film, and music. Jericho confessed that he is thankful that Star Records gave him another chance to share his music to his fans. “May utang talaga ako kay Ms. Annabelle. Nag-meeting na kami dati kaya lang naudlot kasi nadamay siya dun sa pagka-rebelde ko dati. I remember nung binigay ko sa kanya ‘yung mga songs ko she said, ‘Sige we’ll try to work on the…’ Ganun agad ‘yung sinabi niya, e may pagka-sensitive pa ako noon kaya parang nasabi ko, ‘No! You can’t touch my songs.’”

But after thinking things over and having a newfound faith in the Lord, Jericho has learned to listen to other people and take pointers for his own improvement. “Maturity na rin. When you’re young, there are things na ayaw mong pakialaman ng ibang tao. Feeling mo gusto mo at tama lahat ng ginagawa mo, like you can change the world with just your own hands. But now I’m more open at mas mature na ako when it comes to working with other people, communicating and understanding them, and also understanding what the market needs

Isa nang certified Kapamilya ang Malaysian actress na si Carmen Soo. Pumirma na siya ng kontrata sa ABS-CBN Star Magic, ang talent arm ng Kapamilya network na pinamamahalaan ni Johnny Manahan.

Si Carmen ang naging leading lady ni Jericho Rosales sa teleserye na Kahit Isang Saglit. Ang nasabing teleserye ay ang unang co-production ng ABS-CBN at Double Vision ng Malaysia.

Nang makausap ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) si Carmen sa solo presscon na ibinigay sa kanya ng ABS-CBN kahapon, April 2, ay inamin niya na hindi siya masyadong pamilyar sa Pilipinas kaya hindi niya alam kung ano ang kanyang papasukan nang ilatag sa kanya ang project na Kahit Isang Saglit. Ang teleserye ay idinirek ng namayapang si Gilbert "Manong" Perez at ayon kay Carmen, "Manong was kind to explain how the local industry works, TFC, the fans, the working hours, etc."

Although na-link sa isa't isa sina Carmen at Jericho ay hanggang link lang daw yun. Ayon kay Carmen, never naman daw silang nagkaroon ng relasyon ni Echo. Naging mabuti lang daw silang magkaibigan. At natutuwa naman daw siya dahil nang bumalik siya pansamantala sa Malaysia ay constant pa rin ang communication nila ng aktor."

Pagkatapos magsama sa nasabing serye ay sa pelikula naman mula sa Star Cinema magsasama sina Carmen at Echo. Ka-triangle nila rito si Kristine Hermosa.

At dahil sa pelikulang kanyang gagawin at iba pang proyekto sa ABS-CBN kaya kinakailangang mag-aral ng Tagalog si Carmen.

"I have a teacher. She teaches me four to five times a week. She's Ms. Daisy. She used to coach Gerald Anderson. She was recommended to me," lahad ng Malaysian actress.

Nahirapan daw si Carmen sa pag-aaral ng Tagalog.

"It is difficult because it's a brand new language. And I'm in Elementary 3 now."

MATTERS OF THE HEART. Sa ngayon ay loveless pa rin daw si Carmen. Huli siyang nagkaroon ng boyfriend two years ago.

"He's a Canadian-Chinese. He lives in Singapore now. He's a show producer. He produces, but not in acting."

Hindi kaya ang sobrang pagiging busy ni Carmen sa kanyang trabaho sa Malaysia ang naging dahilan kaya naghiwalay sila ng kanyang boyfriend, or hindi rin niya siguro ito ganun kamahal?

"I'm very much in love with him, actually. I didn't give him up him for my career. It's just it didn't work out," paliwanag niya.

Posible kaya na ang susunod na magiging boyfriend ni Carmen ay si Jericho since muli silang magkakatrabaho nito?

"I dont know. Let's see. I wish you can plan things like that," sagot niya.

Ano ba ang qualities na hinahanap ni Carmen sa isang lalaki?

"I think I can write three pages of that!" tawa niya. "The usual things, you know, good heart, understands me and make time to... Because it's very difficult if I'm busy of course, he's probably busy as well. Try to make things work and working at it. Appreciate me. Love and care for me. And let me do the same thing, too. Sharing a life together. So it's not easy to find somebody."

Carmen Soo is Star Magic’s newest talent

Carmen Soo, who captivated the Filipino audience when she played Jericho Rosales’s leading lady in last year’s Kahit Isang Saglit, is the newest addition to the Star Magic family, ABS-CBN’s talent arm. Although the Malaysian actress already has a promising showbiz and modeling career in Malaysia and around Asia, she could not refuse the chance to be managed by Star Magic in her attempt to build a career in the local showbiz scene. “After Kahit Isang Saglit, a different kind of market opened up for me. And like a model who models everywhere, I appreciate a new market where I can expand myself and explore a new market such as different ways of acting, different ways of working, different projects like soap operas here [in the Philippines].”

She revealed that it was ABS-CBN executive Malou N. Santos, who suggested that she allow Star Magic to manage her to make sure that there will be someone to oversee her in her attempt to try her luck in local showbiz. “Tita Malou was acting as my agent last year because I didn’t have one. This year when I came back, I came to see her and she said she’s handing me over to Star Magic properly so that there is a proper group of people to take care of me in my work here. But of course anytime in the near future, I would always have to work out my schedule between my work in Malaysia or anywhere else like in the Philippines,” shared Carmen.

Admitting that Kahit Isang Saglit opened up opportunities for her, she recalled almost losing that chance when she initially refused to make the teleserye when it was first offered to her. “Kahit Isang Saglit was a surprise. It was an unplanned project, which I almost turned down because at that time, I was working on three projects straight without stopping,” she said. “When Manong (the late Director Gilbert Perez) and the producers went to Malaysia, I said no. I couldn’t take another (project). I had to take a break. When they eventually convinced me, I said yes, but I was very tired and it was an unplanned for. But all of a sudden, a whole new opportunity opened itself up for me, as an actor. Probably it follows from being a model, where it’s always nice to be working in different countries. And if there’s is a chance opening up for me, I don’t want to waste it.”

Right now, Carmen is getting ready for her first local movie, where she will share billing with Jericho and Kristine Hermosa. She revealed that she is presently being coached in the Filipino language for the remaining three weeks of her one-and-a-half months stay in the country, before flying back to Malaysia. Although, she confessed that that her training time won’t be enough to make her fluent in the vernacular by the time that she begins shooting the film. “Realistically, I don’t think I can speak pure Tagalog because my teacher told me I’m aiming [for a] pre-school to high school [level] in a month. But as much as I know, it’s better than nothing,” she explained.

As far as her career is concerned, Carmen is prioritizing acting over modeling and said that choosing projects will be based on first-come-first-serve basis be it from Malaysia or anywhere else like the Philippines. “Naturally, every project will get some sort of delay or postponement, which is normal. So whatever comes my way, I’ll take that first whether it’s in Malaysia or Philippines. Of course if I’m shooting something here, I won’t be able to take anything in Malaysia because I can’t be traveling between two countries at the same time. If I’m doing something here, Malaysia would have to take the backseat. The same thing for the Philippines,” Carmen said.

Currently part of the cast of I Love Betty La Fea and ASAP ‘09, as well as getting ready to star in the upcoming drama series Ikaw Lamang with Kristine Hermosa and Karylle, Jericho Rosales definitely has his hands full with the Kapamilya network. The 29-year-old actor formally signed a three-project contract with ABS-CBN last February 5 with his manager Angeli Pangilinan-Valenciano in attendance along with ABS-CBN Executives Malou Santos, Cory Vidanes, and Deo Edrinal.

Of his current projects, Echo says ASAP ’09 will always be closest to his heart. “I’m a regular host so I’m very happy. I love ASAP eh. There was a time that I couldn’t be there and I was just feeling so blessed to be back kasi I really love that show. That’s my kulit venue eh. Yun yung favorite ko. I love being with the ASAP gang and staff, Hunks days pa. Of course, I enjoy working with Mr. M (Johnny Manahan) I love Mr. M so much. Gary V. is there and now it’s just great. Galing talaga ng ASAP, it’s so exciting. Balik kulitan ulit kami nila Vhong (Navarro) and I have new friends, sina John Lloyd (Cruz), PJ’s (Piolo Pascual) there, Billy’s (Crawford) so cool, and the girls are so galing,” he excitedly shares.

With his role as the heartbroken resort owner in I Love Betty La Fea, Jericho also got to bond more with his ASAP cast-mates Bea (Alonzo) and John Lloyd. “Well I considered myself as a guest nung una. Pero winelcome naman nila ako so I’m now a part of Betty and I’m very happy about that. It’s nice to work with Direk Erik Salud, who was also the executive producer of ASAP before. Kulitan din kami nina Betty. It’s fun playing the character na blind guy and si Betty cute. Nasa beach kami palagi, mukha akong fish (laughs). Andun lang ako. Enjoy talaga,” he admits.

Echo also loves the fact that he gets to sing in the show. “Sa Betty ‘di ba nagigita-gitara ako dun. Meron akong song na kinakanta, kinanta ko din kay Betty. Tapos yung character ko, singer na siya, surfer pa siya. So talagang may mga surf scenes kami. Talagang ginawa nila na nakaakma yun sa character ko. Yung kinanta ko, that’s an original song. So I might include it in my album. Everything’s working sabay-sabay. Ikaw lamang is another project set by the beach, dagat pa rin pero nasa ilalim naman ako ‘di ba. hindi naman ako syokoy dito (laughs). Medyo seryosong drama ito. Pero ang ganda ng characters. Hindi ko lang ma-reveal ngayon kung ano yung gagawin ko. It’s different from Kahit Isang Saglit kasi,” he shares.

Ikaw Lamang, which will start taping end of February, is something Echo has started gearing up for physically and mentally. “This is the third project in the contract that I’m preparing for. Nag-da-diet na ulit ako. I did my first dive in five years sa Anilao two days ago and sobrang ganda. Ang dami kong nakitang isda. I took skin diving lessons din. Kasi diver ako sa Ikaw Lamang so pinaghahandaan ko na yun. Nakaka-challenge yung role tapos nasa beach rin ako palagi,” he adds.

At this point in his life, Echo is happy with his current projects with the Kapamilya network. “I’m having the time of the life. Parang naglalaro na din ako at the same time ‘di ba? So I think this is more than what I asked for. This is just sobrang gandang blessing nito,” he says.

Jericho Rosales speaks up about Heart Evangelista’s breakup with her businessman boyfriend

After recently signing up again with the Kapamilya network, Jericho Rosales is set to take on more acting and singing challenges for 2009. While his career is on the rise, his love life is taking a back seat after his very public breakup last year with long-time girlfriend Heart Evangelista. Now that Heart has reportedly split with steady date businessman Francisco Delgado, Echo wants the whole affair behind him, stating that he has nothing to say about Heart’s situation. “I won’t say anything about that but I hope she’s well though. We have no communication. This is my way of communicating, I always pray for her. I’m sure she’s going to be okay,” he says.

Jericho, who will soon be seen in Ikaw Lamang with former on-and-off-screen sweetheart Kristine Hermosa, reveals that it did not even enter his mind that there might be a chance for a reconciliation with his former flame. “Basta work muna. Pagdating natin dun, we’ll see what happens. But I’m sure, mag-ja-jive kami ng husto ni Tin. So we’re going to have a good time there. And it’s a good show and a good project. Maganda. It’s the same directors din ng Kahit Isang Saglit,” he shares.

Echo says that it won’t matter if his next relationship will be from showbiz or not. But he admits there are advantages to dating someone from the industry. “Let’s see, ang initial na makakaintindi ng trabaho ko is kapwa ko artist ‘di ba? So kung makahanap ako ng hindi showbiz, or showbiz man siya pero hindi siya ‘showbiz,’ parang ganun, jackpot na yun for me. Pero I don’t see that. Now is the time for me to meet people, know people, and understand people and myself. Understand the needs of my family and the needs of my job. I need to understand pa a lot of things,” he shares.

The I Love Betty La Fea actor does admit however that he sometimes needs practice controlling how he feels, especially when he gets attracted to someone. “I’m just happy now eh. I honestly feel that sometimes, nagpipigil ako, ganun. Yung nilalabanan ko talaga yung emotions ko. Pero okay lang, nari-reward naman yung patience ko. Nagbubunga ng isang magandang bagay. Parang it’s part of my enhancement. It’s part of getting to be a better Echo. A better person,” he stresses.

The 29-year old also admits that with his full schedule, he’s not in any real hurry to find the right girl, “I know that in time, God preparing the right person for me. He’s also preparing me for that right person. So okay lang yun, I’m happy naman eh. I can still go around, I can still go out,” he says.

When asked if he has been dating lately, the former Hunks member refuses to give details, but admits, “I don’t think that’s what you’d call a date. Group dates, ganun. I just want to be friendly to everyone and enjoy the company of friends. I’m enjoying communicating with my friends, halo-halo yan. Friends from ASAP, from work, and yung mga surfer friends ko,” he adds. Echo says being single has allowed him to spend more time to focus on his loved ones. “I’ve been spending a lot of time with my family and loved ones. Spending time at home, sa bahay lang, designing furniture, mga ganung trip lang. Or I go boxing. I try not to focus too much on being romantic. Medyo yung romantic Jericho bina-bawas-bawasan ko na,” he says.

EXCLUSIVE: Jericho talks about his newest role on TV

Still on a career high after Kahit Isang Saglit, Jericho Rosales is excited to start working on his new drama series Ikaw Lamang with Kristine Hermosa and rumored new ladylove Karylle. Echo plays the role of a poor young man who lives a simple life but dreams of big future. The 29 year old actor, who is also a talented surfer and self-confessed beach bum, feels lucky to be able to work in one of his favorite places, the beach. “Malapit talaga ako sa dagat. May connection rin yung dagat sa character ko dito. Pati sa sarili ko. Yung totoong personality ko kasi mahilig din sa dagat pero this time I’m a pearl diver sa Palawan. Hindi siya mayaman. He’s doing it for a living. Isang kahig isang tuka, parang ganun. Pero he’s very healthy guy. Adventurous siya tapos eventually meron siyang goal na mahanap yung pinaka-precious na pearl. So he’s a dreamer. Basta maganda yung mga pangarap niya sa buhay. I think this is one of the most exciting characters I’ve ever played sa TV and isa sa mga pinaka-unique na ideas nila na binigay sa akin para sa isang character,” he divulges.

Echo, who has always enjoyed straightforward matinee idol roles, says his character in Ikaw Lamang is a whole new challenge altogether. “Personally, I really love the character and that’s a plus factor talaga. So it added to all the excitement that I’m playing the role of a diver and we’re going to be close to the beach. I’m going to be away from Quezon city for a while and I just can’t say what’s going to happen to my character yet but it’s very cool. Kung ano man yung progress ng character ko. It’s all very challenging. The word is challenging and when I say that, it’s something that I haven’t done,” he shares. Jericho, who had studied scuba diving in the past, will be undergoing a refresher course and hopes to get his license before they shoot the underwater scenes. “I like the physical aspect of it and the mental requirements na binigay dun sa character. I used to dive. Parang Muro-ami yung dating nun sa akin. So mano-mano yan eh, wala akong suot na suit. So tatalon-talon ako sa barko, ganun. So ayun, I’m looking forward sa mga ganung unusual scenes. Makikita mo sa television parang sa Kahit Isang Saglit, malayo yung mga locations namin so expect a lot of beautiful scenes sa show na ito,” he shares.

Although Echo admits the series will feature heavy drama, Ikaw Lamang is essentially a love story which will be more romantic and not sexual in nature. “It’s drama and siyempre may romance pero lagi ko kasing sinasabi na pag love scene, it’s not a sex scene, but a love scene. A love scene can be holding hands sa ilalim ng tree, mga ganun. Yun yung pano mo ipapakita yung picture ng love sa isang pelikula or sa TV. Marami kayong makikita talaga na love scenes na not sex scenes, because we cannot show that on TV. At saka we don’t do that, di ba? Kumbaga parang we want to teach children only to do that when you get married yun di ba? Or kung ano man yung mga values na maituturo mo dun diba so ganun yun. So expect a very beautiful and decent show dito sa soap naming. But I’m sure madaming mga nakakakilig na scenes,” he says.

In this month’s issue of MetroHim magazine, Jericho Rosales talks about what he’s learned from being in showbiz for over 13 years. The actor, who took a break from the limelight to concentrate on his music career after doing Panday in 2006, shares how exhausted he felt at the time. “My career was okay pero internally parang sira. I was becoming a rebel because ang dami kong hindi gusto. I was basically tired. I really needed a break. [From] eight years of not resting, acting lang, tuloy-tuloy lang. I was getting disappointed by a lot of things in the industry. I was extremely sensitive at the time,” he shares with MetroHim.

The Kahit Isang Saglit actor also recalled the backlash he received after doing Panday. “People would say so many hurtful words. There was this guy who said, 'O ano musikero ka na lang.' 'Si Jericho wala na 'yan. Isang echo na lang yan.' What's wrong with being a musician? You can make people happy. Yeah I'm an echo but I keep coming back. I cannot explain myself to the world. I just kept saying... they will see. I'm going to come back, I’m going to get it again, be a better actor, better musician, better writer,” he says.

When he finally returned to do Pangarap na Bituin and ASAP in 2007, Echo had to adjust going back to doing shows. “At first, it felt like the first day of school everyday. Para kang alien, para kang visitor sa ibang bahay. Okay lang, they were nice to me naman, especially the audience. I even asked Anne Curtis, ‘Help me naman here. I’m dyahe. Barkadahin mo naman ako don oh,” he recalls.

After his breakup with long-time girlfriend Heart Evangelista last year, Echo is more vocal about his relationship with former Kahit Isang Saglit co-star Carmen Soo. The Malaysian actress, he insists, never had anything to do with the breakup. “Carmen and I are good friends eh. We shared a lot of things, especially with the show. Daming pinagdaanan nung show. Tagal naming nagsama. Because of that we became good friends. Yeah, sometimes we'd go out, eat out. ‘Pag nandito siya, I take her out. Siguro 'yun na 'yung date ko. Dating 'yun ‘di ba? Yeah but we’re not. Wala, she doesn’t believe in long distance relationships. Ako naman, I have different priorities. Magki-click din kami but in my heart I just decided this is what's better. ‘Pag in-analyze namin mga bagay it won't work. I'm just being realistic. Hindi mo naman maaalis sa sarili mo na when you're going out with someone or you meet somebody, siyempre iniisip mo, 'Uy okay kaya 'tong girl na 'to?' But knowing her she's a good person, she has a good heart, good qualities. It's just that the situation at the time is not right,” he tells MetroHim.

The singer-actor, who’s gearing up for a project sometime this year with Kristine Hermosa, says that having a love life is not his top priority at the moment. “It’s only been nine months na single ako. I've been working really hard. I just pray that I meet that perfect person. I'm not looking but there are times when I’m like, 'Hay, sanaI have someone.’ May mga days na even your friends are not available so you just go home. There are times na gusto mo lang ma-inspire o mag-share. Ako, si Mr. Sharing ako eh. Eh wala, so uwi na lang ako,” he confides.

The 29-year-old actor admits he’s looking forward to a better year. “My life now is really balanced. I have surfing. I have music, and movies. I think I’m doing pretty good now. My break gave me wisdom, na-humble din ako. I’ve never been so appreciative. Everything now matters. Nananamnam ko na yung dating hindi ko napapansin,” he says.

Nitong weekend ay umalis naman si Jericho Rosales, ang kapareha ni Carmen, papuntang Malaysia.

Sinudan kaya niya ru’n ang dalaga dahil miss na niya ito?

For sure, magkikita ang dalawa sa Malaysia. And who knows, baka si Carmen din ang kasama ni Echo sa post birthday bash niya roon.

Summary: Episode 1 - Rocky and Garie cross paths

Having witnessed a series of suspicious events prior to his father’s death, Rocky knows the man who’s possibly responsible for his murder—a tragedy which quickly results to his mother’s deadly heart attack. Losing both his parents in one night has compelled him to avenge their death by becoming a cop like his father. 15 years flies by and finally, he gets a chance to seek that man in Malaysia where he is gathering evidence against Gov. Reyes who allegedly has connections in a big-time drug syndicate.

There he accidentally bumps into Garie, a Malaysian girl whose Filipino father has left her and her mother when she was still young. Even to this day, however, she believes that her “tatay” has his reasons for saying goodbye. And she is determined to look for him by applying for a job in a Philippine foundation for street-children. When her maternal grandmother discovers her plans however, she is quickly dissuaded from searching her father. As it is, her grandma wants her to focus her attention on their dwindling shipping business.

As Rocky and Garie cross paths in the city of Kuala Lumpur, will it be love at first sight for them or will they dislike each other first?

Kahit Isang Saglit starts today on Primetime Bida

The stars and production team behind ABS-CBN’s newest teleserye Kahit Isang Saglit will surely make the late Direk Gilbert Perez proud with the clamor they have created with the gripping trailers alone. Prior to the shoot of the show, “Manong” already took note of the revolutionary impact of the Kapamilya network’s partnership with a Malaysian production outfit. “I’m excited (because) this will be a collaboration of ABS-CBN and Double Vision. And if this is successful, it will open a lot of opportunities for the two countries and will pave the way for more projects of this kind,” he said in an interview with ABS-CBN.com last summer.

Starring Jericho Rosales and Carmen Soo, Kahit Isang Saglit is definitely blessed with a powerhouse cast including our very own Christopher de Leon, Albert Martinez, Cristine Reyes as well as Malaysian stars Louisa Chong, Awal Ashaari, and Zayahanah Ibrahim among others. Their dedication to their craft has admittedly made things easier for equally acclaimed director Jerry Lopez-Sineneng who continued what Manong Gilbert had started. “This is a project I’m very proud of. The material is very universal, my actors are very good. If I may say so, this Asianovela is truly world-class and we’re hoping that our kapamilyas will support this all the way. A mix of swashbuckling action and heartrending drama, Kahit Isang Saglit tells the story of Rocky, an honest-to-goodness cop who’s out to pin down a wanted criminal. The manhunt brings him to Malaysia where he crosses paths with a beautiful local named Garie. What seems to be an uneventful encounter turns into a web of coincidences, astonishing secrets, and betrayal which will ultimately test the unexpected bond between these two different people. Will they have the courage to face what lies ahead together?

"I feel that I’m being toughened up!"

This was how Malaysian fashion model and actress Carmen Soo summed up her experience working in the teleserye "Kahit Isang Saglit" with Jericho Rosales and Cristine Reyes.

She said the working schedule in shooting soap operas in the Philippines was one of the things that "shocked" her. In fact just before the press conference last Tuesday, Sept. 9, for "Kahit Isang Saglit" she, director Jerry Sineneng as well as her co-stars Jericho and Cristine just arrived from their taping. Most of them didn’t sleep or only got an hour snooze after leaving their set. "The working hours are different and we are shooting 24 hours straight...I think the style is totally different with what people want to see here compared to Malaysia," she noted.

However she also felt that Malaysia and the Philippines have a lot in common, like the weather, being Asian countries. But the little differences she discovered during her stay has opened her eyes to a whole new world despite the countries being near each other.

"The city is a bit of a culture shock for me because when I first came little did I know the kind of news that will be generated was quite shocking to me. Until now if I do any appearances or when getting interviewed, I’m still getting used to it. And I’m still getting culture shock here and there," she quipped.

On her free time Carmen gets to know the Philippines and its citizens more by going to a lot of shopping malls. She has also watched movies. Being a fashion model, she has even gone out of her way to learn about Filipino designers too.

"I’ve been watching how people live here, how they live their lives, what they do during the day...we go to different locations from Banawe to Quiapo and I’ve been observing how people live here," she shared. With regards to the people she has worked with in "Kahit Isang Saglit," Carmen has only good words to say about them.

Cristine Reyes explains her crush on Jericho Rosales is not something romantic

Ever since actress Cristine Reyes revealed on TV that she has a crush on Jericho Rosales, people have been bugging her if her Kahit Isang Saglit co-star Echo has made any move to return her feelings back. “Hindi ko naman po sinasabing tipo ko si Echo na maging boyfriend, ang sinasabi ko lang po is magaling siyang actor and dun po ako humahanga sa kanya,” Cristine explained.

In The Buzz episode last Sunday, Cristine shyly admitted that she has a big crush on Jericho but said that it was something that should not be taken seriously. “Sobrang nakakainspire siyang katrabaho kasi magaling po siya talaga,” she said. “Every scene namin, kailangan magmo-motivate muna kami. So dun po ako humahanga sa kanya. Sa mga nakatrabaho ko, parang iilan lang po yung ganon.”

Cristine also has nice words to say about Malaysian actress Carmen Soo. Although she and Carmen will fight for Jericho’s love on Kahit Isang Saglit, Cristine said both of them get along really well. “Masaya. She is nice din kasi. Mabait siya at walang hassle na katrabaho,” Cristine shared.

Cristine’s launching teleserye, Eva Fonda, was previously scheduled to air before Kahit Isang Saglit but circumstances lead to the asianovela’s showing on September 15, preceding Cristine’s teleserye. But the actress clarified that she has no ill-feelings about the switch and pointed out that it has worked to her advantage. “Dito sa Kahit Isang Saglit secondary actress lang po ako, wherein sa Eva Fonda ako po yung bida, so maganda naman po yung mauna ito kaysa dun sa isa na ako yung lead star di ba? Cristine ended.

Carmen Soo sort of anticipated the questions thrown at her by local movie press at the presscon of her teleserye with Jericho Rosales, "Kahit Isang Saglit."

Echo (Jericho’s pet name) prepared her for the grilling.

But do you know that she only knew about Echo’s break-up with Heart Evangelista one-and-a-half months after it happened? But she recalls seeing him reporting for work with his eyes swollen, obviously from crying.

It was Echo who informed her about her supposed part in the break-up. She was being blamed for it.

She smiled sweetly when asked if there’s a semblance of truth to the allegation. "None," she said. "We are just friends and co-workers.

"But I admire Echo. He’s good, respectful and hardworking. He’s a good actor, too."

Would she fall in love with Echo?

"If he courts me, well…," she answered, purposely not finishing the sentence.

Carmen revealed that it has been nearly two years when she and her Chinese-Canadian boyfriend parted ways.

In person, Carmen, a Malaysian actress and model, looks even prettier. A charming conversationalist, she’s a great interviewee.

Carmen is half-Chinese and half-Malaysian. Her real surname is Soo Wai Meng.

A graduate of business management, she started as a ramp and commercial model. For four years, she was based in Hong Kong.

It was while shooting a commercial that she first got to set foot in the Philippines.

This is her third trip to the country, the second one was a few months back when she met Echo for the first time. Though she admits that she knows Echo is considered a superstar in Malaysia (several of his drama series have been shown on Malaysian TV), she didn’t know him too well.

She has been in the country for almost four months. But they have been taping non-stop, so much so that the only places she has been to are the location of the series, such as the Rice Terraces in Baguio City; Quiapo, among others.

They still have about two more weeks to complete "Kahit Isang Saglit."

"Kahit Isang Saglit" is the last project of the late director Gilbert Perez, fondly called "Manong" by the actors and the production people worked with him.

The teleserye is considered as a fitting tribute for him, because, incidentally "Kahit Isang Saglit" is also the title of the first movie he directed, which starred Judy Ann Santos, Leandro Locsin and Piolo Pascual.

His last movie was the comedy, "Supahpapalicious," starring Vhong Navarro, Valerie Concepcion and Makisig Morales. Since he had already started work on "Kahit Isang Saglit" towards the ending of "Supahpa-palicious," he talked endlessly about the drama series.

"I’m excited," Maong Gilbert told the press. "Yes, about ‘Kahit Isang Saglit,’ as it is a collaboration of two countries and two different networks, ABS-CBN and Double Vision (Malaysia). I know that if the series proved successful, it will open a lot of opportunities for the two countries and will pave the way for more projects of this kind."

Director Jerry Lopez-Seneneng, who had been tapped to continue directing "Kahit Isang Saglit," is as capable as the late Manong Gilbert. Like his predecessor, Direk Jerry is mighty proud of the project.

"It’s actually like fulfilling a dream, a dream I must admit, I share with Manong Gilbert.

"We were close. And we both dreamt na magkaroon ng project na hahangaan ‘di lang dito sa Pilipinas kung hindi maging sa ibang bansa rin.

"’Kahit Isang Saglit’ is it," Direk Jerry admitted. "We have heard movies directed by Asian directors na umaani ng tagumpay sa ibang bansa. At kumikita din. Thus, contributing financially to their nation’s coffers. It’s high time for us Filipino movie and TV makers," he said stated.

Multi-awarded actor Christopher de Leon has nothing but words of praise for two of today’s most admirable actors, John Lloyd Cruz and Jericho Rosales. Boyet got to work with John Lloyd in the teleserye Maging Sino Ka Man, while he got the chance to work with Echo via the new ABS-CBN drama Kahit Isang Saglit, which will premiere this September 15.

“They are both apart (in acting style) pero they work. It works for them,” Christopher described the two actors. He likens Jericho to a wild horse. “He’s a stallion, who wants to gallop and run. You just got to tame him,” said Boyet, admiring his Kahit Isang Saglit co-star for his energy for his craft. “He’s very professional, hindi masakit sa ulo ang taong ito. Hindi maarte,” he shared.

Meanwhile, the veteran actor described John Lloyd as an actor who uses his mind. “Hats off to him. He’s such a good actor,” Christopher began. “He’s a thinking actor. He’s not flamboyant but he knows what he has to give in the scenes. Alam niya. His style is simple and that’s good.”

They may be different in their approach but Boyet is nonetheless exhilarated working with them because of their dedication to their work. “’Yung passion nila at ‘yung enthusiasm nila with what they’re doing is very contagious, especially sa katulad ko,” he beamed. “I’ve been in the business for so long I need to be rejuvenated."

Babaeng bakla ang description ni Direk Jerry Sineneng kay Carmen Soo, ang Malaysian actress na kapareha ni Jericho Rosales sa teleser-yeng "Kahit Isang Saglit" na mapapanood sa Primetime Bida ng ABS-CBN simula sa September 15. Game raw ito walang kaartehan sa katawan, kaya magaan ang kanilang working relationship. Bukod kay Carmen, may iba pang Malaysian actors na kasama sa "KIS" at nahirapan daw siya noong una, ani direk. "Halos dumugo ang ilong ko sa ka-iingles," he said. "Pero okey naman silang katrabaho." Babalik sila sa Malaysia this month para mag-taping ng ibang eksena kasama ang ilang cast ng "KIS."

Nag-enjoy naman si Carmen sa taping sa iba’t ibang lugar sa Pilipinas, isa na sa Banaue Rice Terraces na 10-hour drive mula sa Manila. "Naloka" lang siya mag-adjust sa working hours na ngaragan talaga, kumpara sa Malaysia na 16 hours lang sila nagtatrabaho. May isang eksena sa "KIS" na kumanta si Carmen ng "Di Ko Kayang Tanggapin" ni April Boy Regino at cute ang pagkanta niya.

Tsika naman ni Jericho, iba ang motivation sa Malaysian actors na kasama nila sa "KIS." "Hindi sila pwedeng galawin. Marami silang limitations. Acting-wise, mas magaling ang Pinoy actors," he said.

Ikinumpara rin ni Jericho ang Malaysian fans sa Pinoy fans. Behaved daw ang mga ito at walang nagsisigawan o nagti-tilian kapag nakakita ng artista. Marespeto at warm din ang mga ito tulad ng mga Pinoy. Sa bahay, hindi pwedeng ipasok ang sapatos o tsinelas. Mababa raw ang crime rate sa Malaysia at bawal kumain ng pork. Minsan nga raw ay isang Pinoy staff nila ang nagluto ng adobo. Nagalit ang isang Malaysian staff at kinuha ang mga kubyertos at ibinaon ang mga ito sa lupa.

'Direk' Jerry praises stars of 'Kahit Isang Saglit'

Movie and television director Jerry Sineneng said he is so blessed to have been given a great set of actors and actresses from local showbiz and Malaysia that are starring in ABS-CBN and Double Visions' series "Kahit Isang Saglit," which is set to start to air Monday, September 15.

The original title of the series was actually "A Time For Us" and was later changed to "Kahit Isang Saglit" as a tribute to movie and TV director Gilbert "Manong" Perez who died after suffering a heart attack while directing a scene for the TV series.

"In terms of directing them napakahuhusay na mga artista. We are so blessed, Manong was so blessed to be given a set of really, really good actors all dedicated, all committed all professionals and fortunately when I stepped into the picture kamado na nila ‘yong characterization," he said.

He said that he is really having a good time working with the whole cast. "Okay lang po madaling madali masayang masaya," he added.

Sineneng said that for the series, the characters will use two languages -- Tagalog and English.

He said that though there were some scenes that characters speak in Bahasa he sees to it people would still understand it through subtitles that were provided.

"Lahat po ng dialog dito ay piling-pili lang, hindi naman daldal ng daldal na hindi maintindihan and we made sure that delivery of our actors are clear and easily understandable," he said.

The director also admitted that he had a quite hard time directing some scenes during his first days working for the show because of a language barrier.

"Ang hirap kasi dumudugo ang ilong ko sa English, ang hirap mag-motivate ng English," he explained.

He said that after getting the trust and support from Malaysian stars, everything turned well.

He even praised Malaysia's one of most respected actors, Louisa Chong: "Bakla, babaeng bakla, baklang mayaman, napakabait, napaka-supportive din, loka-loka din, she's very good, hindi ako nahirapan swerte ko sa project na ito hindi ako ganoon ka hirap."

Jerry Lopez Sineneng is a graduate from the University of the Philippines. He got his break with his legal drama show “Ipaglaban Mo.”

He directed in 1996 the film version of the hit soap opera “Mara Clara,” which was also his first full-length film.

He also directed “Ang Pulubi at ang Prinsesa (1997),” Flames--Episode I, Tameme (1997),” “Kung Ayaw Mo, Huwag Mo (1998),” and “Labs Kita, Okay Ka Lang (1998).

For “Soltera”, his film with Maricel Soriano, he won the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences award for the screenplay of the dramatic film, he co-wrote with Jun Lana.

Bawal tanungin si Cristine Reyes tungkol kay Dennis Trillo nang sabay silang magpa-interview ng Malaysian actress na si Carmen Soo para sa Kahit Isang Saglit kahapon. Hindi ko lang alam kung after ng presscon ay nagsalita siya tungkol sa kanyang ex-dyowa.

Uy nga pala, itinanggi ni Cristine na may pagnanasa siya kay Jericho Rosales na kasama nila sa Kahit Isang Saglit. “Humahanga lang ako kay Echo. Nakaka-inspire siya. Lahat ng eksena dapat may motivation. Hindi ko sinasabing tipo ko siyang maging boyfriend. Nagagalingan lang ako sa kanya.”

Si Carmen Soo naman, na-culture shocked sa entertainment industry sa bansa. As in nanibago raw siya sa sistema sa bansa dahil inaabot nga naman sila ng madaling araw sa taping. Kaya kung meron man siyang isang gustong gawin, yun ay ang matulog.

Gusto rin niyang makausap kung meron siyang ‘kahit isang saglit’ ang namayapa nilang direktor na si Direk Gilbert Perez na inatake sa puso bago pa man natapos ang taping nila para magpasalamat at mamaalam.

Jericho Rosales talks about his new leading ladies in "Kahit Isang Saglit"

Jericho Rosales was feeling a bit sluggish when he arrived at the press conference of Kahit Isang Saglit held earlier this afternoon, September 9. However, when he was asked to describe his leading ladies, he immediately brightened up and narrated anecdotes about his two new leading ladies: Malaysian actress Carmen Soo and new Kapamilya star Cristine Reyes.

Echo (Jericho's nickname) is paired with Carmen and Cristine in this ABS-CBN co-production with the Malaysian company Double Vision. They ended taping for their show just this morning, which is why they hardly had any sleep before proceeding to the press conference. Their teleserye will air on the Kapamilya Network starting September 15, 2008.

The young actor-singer first described Cristine as someone who is "magaling, passionate, and intense. Kung ihahalintulad ko siya, para siyang babaeng Echo. As a friend, hindi pa kami masyadong nagkaka-bonding pero nung one time na malungkot siya, kino-comfort namin siya.

"As for Carmen, she is new to everything. Carmen is one of the most intelligent actors sa Malaysia," says Echo. He recalls one scene wherein he said his lines in Tagalog yet Carmen was able to correctly deliver her lines even though she did not understand what he was saying.

"She knows when to deliver and express... She may have a hard time ‘pag complicated ang scene but with guidance, she's a sponge. She absorbs everything."

Being in a nostalgic mood, Echo pointed out that it was Direk Jerry Sineneng who gave him his first break in the industry by casting him as the lead actor in the ABS-CBN show Esperanza.

"I owe [Direk Jerry] a big chunk of my...malaking pasasalamat ko sa kanya kasi siya nagbigay sa akin ng break. Nag-audition ako noon sa Esperanza at nasa kanyang mga kamay kung tatanggapin ba ako sa show na yun or hindi."

When PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked Direk Jerry to describe what he saw in Echo when he was still starting in the industry, the veteran director said, "Ang lalim agad [ng acting niya], magaling mag-deliver ng lines, ang galing ng timing. Parang hindi siya nangapa. Mata niya nagagamit na niya kahit baguhan lang siya."

BIRTHDAY WISH. Echo will be turning 29 on September 22. When asked to give his birthday wish, the single father tells the press: "Sana every birthday ko. I'll grow up to be a better father to my son. Sana I'll grow up to be a better artist para makatulong sa industry.

"I hope and pray that the industry will be supported by the government. Ito yung na-discover ko, sana mabigyan ng importansiya. Sana ma-practice ko rin ang pagiging single ko."

The media curiously asked Carmen if she has a boyfriend in Malaysia. She pointed out that she is single right now and that her last relationship ended late last year. Does Echo stand a chance if he courts her? "Tell him to try first then I'll tell him!" Carmen said with a laugh.

Is Echo up to the challenge of courting his new leading lady?

"Nag-promise ako sa sarili ko na rerespetuhin ko muna ang pagtatrabaho dito. Siguro pagkatapos ng taping, magpapaalam muna ako kay Direk. Hinahanap ko pa ang sarili ko, e." Turning to Carmen, he promised: "If I'll try, I will text you."

LABIS naming ikinatuwa ang muling pagbabalik ni Jericho Rosales sa naiibang Asianovela, ang Kahit Isang Saglit with Malaysian actress Carmen Soo. Ang nasabing soap ay unang idinirek ng yumaong Gilbert Perez at ipinagpatuloy ni Direk Jerry Lopez Sineneng. Sa trailer pa lang, sigurado kaming maiibigan at mamahalin ninyo ang bagong tambalan ng taon – Carmen at Jericho. “Nag-stop ako for awhile because of music. I have to give way – break na rin, in a way,
for me para maka-focus sa work, it’s music with my band. I think, one year din akong nawala sa television and film. Nag-concentrate ako sa music, then I decided to comeback. Nand’yan naman ang ABS-CBN to support me. They offered me Pangarap Na Bituin, pangalawa nga itong Malaysian telenovela. May bago na naman akong soap na ilalabas doon tulad ng Pangako Sa ‘Yo. May project din akong gagawin sa Viva Films – Baler with Anne Curtis and Phillip Salvador. It’s a period movie kaya sobrang excited ako sa pelikulang ito.” Bungad ni Echo sa set ni Direk Jerry sa Flower Farm in Tagaytay.

Napagod nga ba ang actor sa pag-aartista kaya ito’y tumigil? “Siguro naman napapagod din ang tao sa iba’t ibang career nila. For example, writer ka – one point of your life, mayroon ka rin gustong gawin. Sa akin, parang naghanap lang ‘yung puso ko ng something na dini-desire ko – ang music. Matagal na rin akong sumusulat ng mga songs na nakatambak lang doon, music talaga ang gusto ko. Sometimes, napagod ako sa schedule ko noon, parang hindi balanse ang buhay ko noon, alam mo ‘yun, parang may kulang. Parang hindi ko makuha ‘yung sense na one day nandito ako, next day nandoon naman ako – ang gulo! Hindi naman pwede, so sabi ko, magpapahinga ako, tapos hahanapin ko ‘yung gusto ko, nahanap ko naman ‘yung gusto ko.”

How true, superstar kung ituring ng mga fans si Jericho sa Malaysia? “Bunga ‘yun ng Pangako Sa ‘Yo at Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas. Malaysia is my second home, it’s really nice and I love the place. I’m looking forward sa shoot namin doon kasi iba ‘yung feeling kapag nasa ibang lugar ka, especially Malaysia malapit lang.”

This time, seryoso naman kaya ang actor sa muli niyang pagbabalik-showbiz? “Yeah, still nand’yan na ‘yung music, medyo establish na. It’s a matter of timing, organizing my schedule – parang ganu’n, di ba? Parang nakukuha ko na ‘yung agos ng trabahong gusto kong gawin – balanse na! Kapag kaya ko na, this time I’m doing this soap na ipapalabas na, then my movie it’s gonna be another project – happy talaga ako sa takbo ng career ko ngayon, that I’m back!”
Naramdaman ba ni Echo na nanamlay ang movie career niya before? “I expected naman so I decided to stepback – dito muna ako sa gilid, out of touch talaga ako! Minsan nga hindi ko alam ang bilis talaga ng panahon. Maraming bagong artista, I’m glad pagbalik ko, open pa rin ang door sa akin, I let it open sa pagbabalik ko – okey! Hardwork lang talaga, dedication sa trabaho at full concentration sa ginagawa mo – focus. Na-miss ko talaga ang acting.”

Naaapektuhan ba naman ang actor sa mga negative write-up na naglalabasan tungkol sa kanya? “Mostly kasi, hindi ko na lang pinapansin, ang philosophy ko d’yan – kung hindi totoo, hindi ko na lang pinag-uukulan ng panahon. Tao lang naman ako, susubukan ka nilang basagin ka, paluhurin ka, paiyakin ka – ‘yung ganu’n! Pero kung alam mong hindi totoo – ‘wag ko na lang pansinin. Although may mga write-up na nakakainis, doon na napa-practice somehow ang good attitude. Sabi nga nila, kapag binato ka ng bato, batuhin mo ng tinapay. I just pray for them.”

Is there any posibility na ma-in love si Jericho sa kanyang leading lady na si Carmen Soo habang ginagawa nila ang Kahit Isang Saglit? “Sino namang lalaki ang hindi mai-in love sa kanya? She’s charming, fun to be with, at super bait hindi lang sa akin, kundi maging sa buong production. Madali siyang pakisamahan at makapalagayang-loob. Walang masama kung dumating kami sa point na – you know? Binata naman ako, dalaga naman siya. Malay natin, who knows? Time will tell, but now, we enjoy each other’s company. Magaan siyang katrabaho and she can act – magaling siya!” Papuring sabi ng aktor.

Nakapag-usap na ba sina Echo at Heart Evangelista after their break-up? “Nakapag-usap naman kami, we don’t have time to see each other. Medyo na clear out na, nasagot na ‘yung mga question na naglalaro sa isipan ko – yes or no! May possibility na magkita ‘uli kami, I don’t know what to say!”

Noon, si Heart na nga ba ang itinakda para sa ‘yo? “Only God knows, for myself – yeah, ofcourse! Wala ng iba noong time na ‘yun. She will always in my heart – 3 years, I’m ready to be a good friend para sa kanya – alam naman n’ya ‘yun. I just want to live in peace – ‘yun lang, so okey lang. Ganito lang ako ngayon, relax lang,” simpleng sagot ni Jericho Rosales.

Malaysian child star of 'Kahit Isang Saglit' has only good words for Filipino cast

Acclaimed Malaysian child star Erynne Erynna, who co-stars with Filipino actors Jericho Rosales and Albert Martinez in the upcoming soap “Kahit Isang Saglit”, is in Manila to promote her horror film “Congkak.”

Eleven-year-old Erynne won a Best Actress award in 2007 for her role in the film. She is elated and excited to be in the country and finds Filipinos very friendly.

“I love the people. I like the place I've been to like Greenhills. It's similar to Malaysia,” says Erynne who has just finished shooting “Kahit Isang Saglit” with Jericho, Albert and fellow Malaysian star Carmen Su.

Carmen Su plays Gari, the series' leading lady. It isErynne who plays Gari as a young girl. “It is a very demanding role but I like it,” says the child star.

In the course of the TV shoot in Malaysia, Rosales and Martinez have become Erynne's friends and surrogate elder brothers.

“Jericho and Albert are great. They're very friendly,” said Erynne.

The child star said that Filipino actors are very wonderful to work with. She feels sad, however, when she remembers the early demise of her Filipino director Gilbert Perez. “He was very supportive of me. I miss him,” Erryne recalls.

Perez, she recounts, chose her to play the young Gari because of her resemblance to the actress.

Erynne's mother, the young and equally beautiful Kelly, is also sad about the unexpected death of Gilbert. “I was shocked when I heard the news. Actually, the news that he suffered a fatal heart attack also reached us in Malaysia and I was also sad about it. He was too young to die,” she said.

Kelly is also uncomfortable hearing sob stories about Filipino actors who are sick especially when she saw on TV that Albert and wife Liezl Martinez are hounded by reports of a family member being stricken by cancer.

“I wish the news is false alarm. I've been close to Albert when Erynne did the soap with him. We always exchange text messages, and things like this doesn't feel good,” says Kelly.

Erynne attended the premiere showing of “Congkak” last Monday at the Robinsons Galleria Cinema 6.

This is her second movie to date but promises to slow down on show biz commitments. “We've been around Asia to promote like Singapore but I still love to go to school.”
