Still on a career high after Kahit Isang Saglit, Jericho Rosales is excited to start working on his new drama series Ikaw Lamang with Kristine Hermosa and rumored new ladylove Karylle. Echo plays the role of a poor young man who lives a simple life but dreams of big future. The 29 year old actor, who is also a talented surfer and self-confessed beach bum, feels lucky to be able to work in one of his favorite places, the beach. “Malapit talaga ako sa dagat. May connection rin yung dagat sa character ko dito. Pati sa sarili ko. Yung totoong personality ko kasi mahilig din sa dagat pero this time I’m a pearl diver sa Palawan. Hindi siya mayaman. He’s doing it for a living. Isang kahig isang tuka, parang ganun. Pero he’s very healthy guy. Adventurous siya tapos eventually meron siyang goal na mahanap yung pinaka-precious na pearl. So he’s a dreamer. Basta maganda yung mga pangarap niya sa buhay. I think this is one of the most exciting characters I’ve ever played sa TV and isa sa mga pinaka-unique na ideas nila na binigay sa akin para sa isang character,” he divulges.

Echo, who has always enjoyed straightforward matinee idol roles, says his character in Ikaw Lamang is a whole new challenge altogether. “Personally, I really love the character and that’s a plus factor talaga. So it added to all the excitement that I’m playing the role of a diver and we’re going to be close to the beach. I’m going to be away from Quezon city for a while and I just can’t say what’s going to happen to my character yet but it’s very cool. Kung ano man yung progress ng character ko. It’s all very challenging. The word is challenging and when I say that, it’s something that I haven’t done,” he shares. Jericho, who had studied scuba diving in the past, will be undergoing a refresher course and hopes to get his license before they shoot the underwater scenes. “I like the physical aspect of it and the mental requirements na binigay dun sa character. I used to dive. Parang Muro-ami yung dating nun sa akin. So mano-mano yan eh, wala akong suot na suit. So tatalon-talon ako sa barko, ganun. So ayun, I’m looking forward sa mga ganung unusual scenes. Makikita mo sa television parang sa Kahit Isang Saglit, malayo yung mga locations namin so expect a lot of beautiful scenes sa show na ito,” he shares.

Although Echo admits the series will feature heavy drama, Ikaw Lamang is essentially a love story which will be more romantic and not sexual in nature. “It’s drama and siyempre may romance pero lagi ko kasing sinasabi na pag love scene, it’s not a sex scene, but a love scene. A love scene can be holding hands sa ilalim ng tree, mga ganun. Yun yung pano mo ipapakita yung picture ng love sa isang pelikula or sa TV. Marami kayong makikita talaga na love scenes na not sex scenes, because we cannot show that on TV. At saka we don’t do that, di ba? Kumbaga parang we want to teach children only to do that when you get married yun di ba? Or kung ano man yung mga values na maituturo mo dun diba so ganun yun. So expect a very beautiful and decent show dito sa soap naming. But I’m sure madaming mga nakakakilig na scenes,” he says.
